"199633" refers to the facets cut on this thick walled glass bubble. The legs are made of olive wood. Brass flanges, UV-bonded to the glass, connect the glass to the wood.
“199633” was made for the Glass Art Vessel Exhibition at the Edge Glass Gallery in Cape Town. The exhibition showed work from leading glass artists of Southern Africa and acclaimed artists from Australia, England and Holland.

Artist statement
I started with a dilemma. How can the vessel be given prominence? I didn’t want to create just another vase but a work of art, reduce the traditional functionality to something more enlightened. The wood works great as a metaphor of growth, holding the fruit of my labours high.
